Whereas municipal infrastructure—such as roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems—is essential to public safety, economic development, and quality of life in small and rural communities; Whereas the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) provides critical financial support to municipalities facing infrastructure deficits; Whereas the current OCIF funding commitment of $400 million annually is set to expire in 2026, and rising costs have diminished its impact; Therefore be it resolved that the Municipality of Casselman urges the Government of Ontario to: Extend the OCIF program beyond 2026 at a minimum of $400 million annually; Index OCIF funding to the Ontario Consumer Price Index (CPI); Establish a predictable, multi-year funding framework to support long-term planning; Review the OCIF allocation formula regularly to reflect current municipal needs. And that this resolution be forwarded to the Premier of Ontario, the Minister of Infrastructure, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and relevant municipal associations.
